Mallory’s Evening Forecast - Freezing fog possible again overnight! More melting on the way Monday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - After another chance for freezing fog Sunday night into Monday morning, we’ll start the workweek with more opportunities to melt the snowpack!
Dense freezing fog formed across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa Saturday night into early Sunday morning, coating the trees and cars with frost. Though a Dense Fog Advisory was in effect through Noon, fog lifted by mid-morning Sunday. Abundant sunshine warmed us above freezing for the first time since last Tuesday! With light winds, it was a nice January afternoon.
Another chance for dense fog moves in Sunday night, with a Dense Fog Advisory in effect. This advisory will chip away from northwest to southeast throughout Monday morning. It expires in Omaha at 9 AM Monday. Overnight lows will drop down into the lower-20s.
Plentiful sunshine returns by midday Monday, with highs warming up near the 40° mark! This will help us continue to put a dent into melting our snowpack from this past week. Clouds increase again Tuesday, but southerly winds will warm us back into the upper-30s.
Our next chance for wintry mix arrives Wednesday, before exiting Thursday morning. At this time up to around an inch of snow is possible from this event. Highs stay in the 30s for most of the rest of the 10-day forecast.
