(WOWT) - Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported today by health officials across Nebraska and Iowa.

Douglas County

The Douglas County Health Department reported 263 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

Nine new deaths were reported. The deaths were four women, two in their 60s, one in her 70s, and one over 85. Also, three men in their 60s, a man in his 40s, and a man over 70. The total number of deaths is now 544.

The total number of cases since the pandemic began is now at 57,733.

The average number of cases reported in the last seven days is 303.

The total number of reported recoveries is now 41,149.

Nebraska

Nebraska reported 779 new cases Friday to bring the total so far to 180,910. Nineteen more deaths were also reported to bring the number to 1.837. The state has also recorded 1,930,698 COVID-19 tests done so far in the state. That is about 3,330 shy of averaging one test per Nebraskan. Obviously, many Nebraskans have taken multiple tests since the pandemic began. According to the state’s Coronavirus Dashboard, about 45% of Nebraskans have had a test done.

Iowa

Iowa reported 1,296 new cases Friday to bring that number to 303,120. The positivity rate over the past 14 days was 13.3% Six new deaths were reported Friday to bring the number to 4,257 so far.

Midwest & Other Regions

Nationally, hospitalizations in the Midwest continue to trend down. The Northeast and West have started to head in the same direction in the past week. The 18,183 people who were hospitalized with COVID-19 Friday brought the region back to November 6 levels in the Midwest.
