Athlete of the Week: Papillion-La Vista’s Norah Sis
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Norah Sis is a special athlete, one who decided the night before tryouts she wanted to go for a sport, and then months later she won a state championship. That’s what happened her freshman year at Papillion-La Vista winning it all in the high jump.
Now as a senior, she not only has her sights set on the same title, but she wants to break records. Her jump in the state championship was 5-8, that’s also a Papio record which she still holds today. Norah wants to reach 5-10 and then from there, she will go after the state record at 5-11.
So far she won both meets she has competed in early this season, including one where she hit 5-8 yet again.
Her coaches say she’s a natural at high jump, her height at 6-1 helps but also her volleyball game. Norah excels in the fall on the court and also spends a ton of time building strength in her legs by simply playing and practicing. Norah will play for Creighton after graduating this spring.
