David’s Evening Forecast - Hottest weather of the week Thursday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A rinse and repeat forecast for Wednesday evening and Thursday! Expect more hot and humid weather for the evening hours with temperatures in the low 90s. Heat index readings could be as warm ad 96 to 97. Skies clear for the overnight, but only slow cooling with lows in the lower 70s. Thursday will likely bring the hottest weather of the week so far, with highs near 96 in the metro. We’ll have just enough humidity to push our heat index readings up to near 100 degrees.
Storms chances will be on the increase late Thursday night into Friday morning. A complex of storms is expected to develop in western South Dakota and Nebraska, and then roll east and south through Nebraska toward the Omaha metro. Storms likely would not arrive until after sunrise Friday, with the line of storm weakening as it moves our way. Despite the weakening trend, a few heavy downpours and gusts of wind will be possible as the storms move through. The highest risk for severe weather will likely stay west and southwest of the metro. Storms should move out for the afternoon, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the middle 80s.
Heat creeps back in for next week, with highs back into the 90s by Sunday. We may see a tiny bit of relief Tuesday or Wednesday as temperatures dip a few degrees. However, the heat will likely surge back in for the end of next week, with highs in the middle 90s as we head toward the start of the College World Series.
