FIRST ALERT DAY Friday Morning: Line of strong storms bring wind, rain threat
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Friday is a FIRST ALERT DAY as I track a line of storms moving into the area from the northwest during the morning hours. The potential is there for some strong wind gusts near 60 mph on the leading of the storms when they move through.
The most likely window for these storms in our entire viewing area is 7am to 1pm. I’de narrow that window to 9am to noon for the Omaha metro area. It is very likely that the storms are after the majority of the morning drive. Hopefully we’ll end up with some 1-2″ rain totals in the area but due to the fast moving nature I would expect those to be rather limited. The most likely area for those would be on the Nebraska side of the river.
Clouds will clear out during the afternoon with cooler temps in the 70s likely into the evening hours. It will still be a bit humid but rather comfortable to end the week.
Lower dew points and therefore lower humidity are likely this weekend but we are still expecting to warm up quite a bit. Highs in the upper 80s Saturday will hit the lower and mid 90s Sunday. Heat will be the story the majority of next week as well.
